"6 Degrees of Support" is a small networking group I set up with 6 other local mumpreneurs.

The idea is a simple one.

Before I had children, I was a well educated, highly experienced, very professional lady.  After I had children - I was still that same person - yet somehow, caught up amongst the late nights of no sleep, raising kids that didn't eat, sleep, wear, or seem to do anything else that I required of them, I lost belief in myself and my abilities.

When I established my business Partycraft Secrets, I did so with a huge amount of drive, passion, focus and commitment - but not 100% self-belief.  As a result, business was tough.  Once I changed my mindset however, once I remembered that I was able, as well as willing, things began to take a turn for the better.  If nothing else, things started to be fun again.

As I mentioned in my story 'about' my business and my blog, making the decision to start up my own business was an extremely liberating one, which took me from feeling like a tired, old, worthless, flat balloon to fully-inflated and free.  The exact same thing is possible for you.  If you want to go from deflated to free-floating, there's lots you can do, but the first thing to do is recognise that it takes several puffs to blow up a balloon, and the best way is to start puffing!

So 'Puff One' is to think about setting up your own 6 Degrees of Support Group - find another mum that's set up her own 'little business' and ask her to have a (kid-free) cup off coffee with you.  Share your successes, help her from making the same mistakes you have.  Tell her what things you think she's doing really well (to puff up her balloon a little), and perhaps she'll return the favour.  Then ask her if she knows another mumpreneur that can join your next coffee session, and then another...

The idea really is super-simple - you want 6 other mothers around you who have (or want to) set up their own little businesses (or blogs) - each one has a Degree (qualification, valuable life experience etc) that they bring to the table.  Girl-power is an amazing thing, and when you harness it in one space, rather than working on your own all the time, you'll be amazed how quickly you can inspire, motivate and simply boost each others morale - and perhaps even each other's businesses.

NEW - ebook now available - tells you all you need to know about how to set up and run your own support group!  "6 Degrees of Support - How to."

So go on - find a friend, and get supportive!

Best wishes,
Linda. x

I wish you lived closer because I would love to sit and have a cup of coffee with you. A supportive group of encouraging and thoughtful women, is what we all need.

Thanks Amy - just by commenting you're sharing some long-distance love... but yes, a kid-free coffee and a choc-mint-chat would be sublime! x
